Forum: classic_tv Subject: Any chance of more B&W-era newscasts being uploaded?

So far this section has 2 episodes of "Camel News Caravan", 2 episodes of "Plymouth News Caravan", 3 episodes of "See It Now", 1 episode of a BBC newscast, and a 1949 NBC newscast.

My question is, is there any chance of additional B&W-era newscasts being uploaded? I think, for example, that there's a surviving example of a BBC television newsreel from 1953. There's also a surviving 1957 or 1958 episode of "This I Believe", an Australian series in which the reportedly annoying Eric Baume provided his reportedly annoying opinions on current world affairs. Not to mention 1950s newscasts from the US (I once saw a clip of a kinescope of an ABC newscast from the late-1950s) via NBC, CBS and ABC, and current affairs shows from DuMont (some of which are still extant, such as two episodes of the probably annoying "Newsweek Views the News").

I admit that the vast majority of 1950s newscasts are lost, but it would still be nice to have surviving examples availably digitally.

There's even a surviving episode of CBS current affairs series "People's Platform" from 1948....1948!!

EDIT: OK, I now realise this post was a bad idea. Still, I'll leave it up in case it inspires people who have old 1950s newscasts to upload them.

Can't help with any uploads but I too would love to see newscasts either national or local from the "olden" times. Would be interesting to see and I hope someone can find and share some.
